| History: |
Between the early 1930’s and 1952 a relief camp and then a logging camp was located on the west side of the highway adjacent to the park. A causeway and a breakwater was constructed (originally of old ships and later replaced with rock) to protect the booming operation. The accretion, which resulted from the installation of the breakwater, forms the present park. Proposals to build a yacht club and marina in the bay galvanized the public to lobby for the protection of the park as open space and a wildlife refuge. The land was licensed to the then-CSRD in 1992. |

The park is a waterfront lot with a class I recreation beach. The accreted land (sand dunes) contains significant foreshore vegetation. The adjacent bay is a good feeding ground for water birds and the park is a good place for bird watching. |
